TELECOMMUNICATIONS PLANNING & POWER SURVEYING IN THE UK & IRELAND

ABOUT

In 2020, driven by demand from our clients, DGUS Group established a survey and design division within the business which now has nationwide coverage for both the power and telecommunication networks in the UK and Ireland.

DGUS Group’s survey and design offering is tailored to suit our clients’ needs, and can be part of a full turkey survey, design and build model, or as a standalone product to support client projects.

All survey and design activities are underpinned by DGUS Group’s ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation management systems. Further, the survey and design division have a dedicated quality team who ensure all client requirements are met in line with the agreed scope.

Telecommunications Planning and Survey

Our survey and design teams are supported by test rod and rope crews, which enables us to provide an intrusive or non-intrusive survey offering dependent upon client needs.

The survey and design information captured can include:

  • All poles housing equipment surveyed. Photographs of all poles including top envelop, whole pole, elephant’s foot, DOB, DP/CP number and any fibre cable on pole showing the route of the cable
  • All chambers housing equipment surveyed (confirming space for new equipment, if it requires a gully suck/desilt, duct capacity and special lid lifting requirements)
  • Photographs of all chambers including external cover, whole chamber (internal) and duct mouths
  • Existing full DIG areas surveyed and marked as DIG to the premise and/or full DIG network to be evidenced within the surveying software and noted to the client with the option to build or exclude
  • New alternative survey design to be provided for any full DIG prems/areas, utilising existing O/H structures or by way of adding additional O/H structures
  • If a new offset chamber (as proposed by HLD) location is unsuitable during survey, a new location will be suggested
  • All premises in the deployment area surveyed with a drop type
  • Assessing and delineating between Single Dwelling Units (SDU) and Multi Dwelling Units (MDU) based on set criteria
  • Tree cutting/guarding will be highlighted on pole/span
  • Wayleaves requirements will be identified
  • Special design requirements such as bridges or roads requiring closure will be highlighted
  • Risk Assessments Flags will be dropped as and when required during survey
  • School entrances, fire stations, hospitals, jagged fences above poles, poles beside water etc will be included
  • Safety Issues if any are highlighted against pole, chamber
  • All information and data recorded on GIS platform and live maps
  • Survey data quality controlled and uploaded to design platform
  • A55 production if required
